A short morning news routine
Stay informed without an endless news feed
Last updated: 20 October 2026
You can keep up with the news without opening a social feed. Choose a few topics, set a time to catch up and stop after your update. A newsletter, a news podcast or a spoken briefing can give that routine a clear end.
Choose what you need to know
Start with a subject that matters to your day. You might choose local transport, your football team or changes in the industry you work in. Add a place or a name when a broad topic gives you too much news.
Keep some space for wider news too. A personal topic list can miss important events outside your interests. Check a general news source when you want a broader view.
Make the update fit your morning
Choose one way to catch up. Read a newsletter at breakfast, listen to a news podcast or use a short spoken briefing while you get ready. Keep the full reports for stories you want to understand in more detail.
If you use AiWake News Alarm, open an alarm's settings and enter a topic under “What topic do you want to wake up to?” Choose Short under Briefing Length. Adjust the speaking speed if you need more time to follow the words.
For example, “Public transport news in Singapore” gives more direction than “news”. This is a suggested input. It does not guarantee a new report each day. See more custom news topic examples.
Start the briefing when you are ready
Set the alarm time and repeat days that suit your routine. On iPhone with iOS 26 or later, tap Open AiWake when the alarm rings to start the briefing. Earlier iOS versions use standard notifications. The setup guide explains the device steps.
A fresh AiWake briefing needs an internet connection. Speech depends on the voices installed on your phone. Keep a backup alarm for important events.
Check the source before acting
A short summary leaves details out. AiWake can make errors, and available coverage varies by topic. Open its linked sources to check dates, names and the full report. A spoken briefing does not replace an official local alert or professional advice.
Try the routine before choosing a plan
AiWake Free includes three English briefings each week. Plus includes 15 briefings each week. Pro includes 50. Both paid plans include all supported briefing languages. Store prices and renewal terms appear before purchase.
After listening, ask whether the update covered something useful. Narrow the topic if it wandered. Choose a broader subject if there was too little recent news. You can also use the website sample to hear the format before you install the app. The sample is a demonstration, not today's news.
